Placement & Fellow Volunteers

I found out today that I will be volunteering at Mother Teresa's Home for the Dying and Destitute, which will certainly be a challenge. I also found out that there will be seven of us volunteers, all women, with two of us in our 50's and the rest in their 20's. Three of the women are from Mexico, so it will make for a nice cultural mix.

Salwar Kameez

Here is a picture of the Salwar Kameez, the lovely outfit that I will be wearing while I'm working.

Counting the days

Less than two weeks to go and I don't feel ready at all!! The packing should be easy as I don't have to bring a lot of clothes, but despite that, I'm still stressing over the little garments I have to bring. Alex, the coordinator for the trip, said that I can buy an outfit for $20 and get my clothes washed and ironed cheaply too, so I really can't go wrong if I don't bring the appropriate clothing.

As to learning the language.....well, let's just say that I am trying. I'll at least have 15 hours on the plane to brush up on the essentials.

Still no word on what I will be doing, but when I find out, I'll at least have 15 hours on the plane to read up on that too.
